Every day, shelter dogs wake up with the hope that they will soon taste freedom, find their forever family, and receive unconditional love.
A Loving Shelter Dog Ignored By Adopters For A Year Keeps Waiting For Someone To Take Her Home
In the confined spaces of their kennels, shelter pups gaze out with eyes filled with longing, silently hoping to capture the hearts of potential adopters passing by.
Typically, younger puppies quickly find their forever homes, but the older residents are often passed over again and again.
Annie, a seven-year-old pup, is all too familiar with this harsh reality.
Each time visitors overlook her and walk away, her hopes are dashed.
Annie longs for someone to choose her and promise her a lifetime of love.
Her biggest dream is to wrap her humans in a big hug and cover them with affection.
All she's asking for is one chance.
Annie’s Story
Annie has been at the Mendocino Coast Humane Society in Fort Bragg, California, for a year.
She was transferred there from Mendocino County Animal Care Services.
The loud and chaotic shelter environment has been tough on her, causing stress and anxiety.
Yet, when she receives attention from her shelter friends, Annie lights up.
Her face beams, and her eyes shimmer with gratitude.
She wags her tail to show just how happy she is; Annie is an incredibly loving dog.
As the shelter staff cuddle her, she kisses their hands, as if to say thank you for the affection they show her.
The staff are baffled that no adopter has fallen for her yet.
Seeing Annie's face fall every time another dog is adopted and she remains behind is heartbreaking for her shelter friends.
They've taken to social media to share her story, hoping to help her find a home.
"Adopt Annie! This newly seven year old large mixed breed is seventy pounds of pure love…," they posted on Facebook.
They hope that someone wonderful will see this and decide to make Annie the happiest pup in the world.
The Adorable Doggo Doesn’t Lose Hope
Annie needs an adopter who is willing to keep up with her veterinary care.
"Because of her age, Annie has a chronic eye issue and dental disease that will need further vet care after adopting," the shelter explained.
They also shared a video on their Instagram showing Annie smiling, her eyes twinkling with hope.
Despite the long time she has spent in the shelter, she still dreams of her perfect ending.
From the bottom of my heart, I hope that Annie will soon leave the shelter for a home where she will be cherished.
This sweet girl deserves to be surrounded by love and to experience the joys of life outside the shelter walls.
