On October 20, 2024, Molly, an 11-year-old dog, disappeared from her family’s farm. Her worried owner, Mike Herridge, tried everything he could think of to find her, but days passed with no success.

Determined not to give up, Mike and his daughter Natalie decided to enlist the help of a rescue drone company. After three long days of searching, the drone finally spotted a dog in an open field. As soon as Mike got the news, he rushed to the location, hoping against hope that it was his Molly.

When he arrived and stepped out of his car, Mike’s heart swelled with joy. It was Molly. Though blind and unable to recognize him by sight, Molly’s other senses soon came alive as she realized her owner had come to take her home.

Tense Search with the Happiest Ending

When Molly first went missing, Mike and his family feared the worst. They doubted they would ever see her again.

"To be honest, I didn't think we were going to find her alive. I started looking in ditches or holes she could've fallen into. She's completely blind and isn't particularly mobile." Mike explained during his interview with the Daily Mail.

Despite their fears, the family refused to give up. Natalie, Mike’s eldest daughter, had an idea to contact Drone To Home, an organization that specializes in using drones to find missing pets.

The decision proved to be a brilliant one. Within just two hours of launching the search, the drone located Molly in a vast field.

"I was standing near the drone operator who said 'I think I might've found your dog', so I looked on his screen and said, 'Yep that's her!'" Mike recounted, adding: "When she heard my voice she started jumping around like a puppy. I held her and thought, 'I can't believe I'm picking you up right now.'"

Phil James, the CEO of Drone To Home, also reflected on the heartfelt moment. He admitted that while he "don't get emotional very often,", the reunion brought tears to his eyes. He expressed how rewarding it is to bring joy to pet owners and their furry companions.

He concluded by sharing his pride in the work his organization does, saying that helping families like Mike’s is one of the greatest privileges of their mission.
