Living on the street as a helpless animal is tough. But sometimes, it can be even harder for an animal to be confined to a small space, with little care, no room to move, and a lack of love.
Heartbroken Dog Who Lost All Her Friends in a Hoarding Tragedy Hopes to Find a Forever Home to Honor Their Memory
Sadly, the pup in today’s story, Shyla, grew up in such a harsh environment. Before she was rescued, Shyla was living in a backyard where breeding and hoarding took place, alongside several other dogs. After being taken to an overcrowded shelter in Houston, only Shyla survived the ordeal.
But her struggles didn’t end there. Due to the overcrowding at the shelter, Shyla was scheduled to be euthanized. However, at the very last moment, an incredible person stepped in to give her a second chance at life.
Finally Safe
As soon as a compassionate dog lover heard about Shyla's difficult past and her grim future, they decided to take her in as a foster. "She was saved because a foster was able to get her five minutes after the deadline," Chelsea Domaleski, a shelter volunteer, told The Dodo.
However, due to unforeseen circumstances, Shyla's foster had to give her up again after just one month. Domaleski and her boyfriend placed Shyla in a boarding facility and are currently covering the costs, but they won’t be able to sustain it much longer. What Shyla desperately needs now is a loving family willing to welcome her into their home and give her the happy life she deserves.
Looking For A Home
Despite her rough past, Shyla is still a lovable pup with a heart full of love and a tail that’s always ready to wag. "She loves people and is super snuggly and friendly. She's been living with a bunch of other dogs at the boarder's house and has been getting along well with them all. She likes to go for walks and hang outside in the sun with the other pups," Domaleski said.
Shyla may not have been born into a loving family, but that doesn’t mean she can’t find one now! She’s a sweet pup who would make the perfect companion for anyone willing to adopt her. "She was neglected and let down by humans her whole life and is ready for someone to love and care for her the way she deserves," Domaleski added.
Right now, Shyla is recovering from heartworm and is hoping that a foster family can step in and care for her as she heals. Once she recovers, she can start her search for a forever family. Returning to the shelter is not an option, as it would likely mean she’d be put down.
