But on one terrible day, she was met with heartbreaking cruelty instead of the love she longed for.

Her owners, who no longer wanted her in their lives, decided to abandon Zoe deep within a remote forest, far from anyone who might hear her frightened cries.

To make sure she wouldn’t find her way back home, they tied her to a nearby tree and left her there — alone, with no plan to return.

Surrounded by unfamiliar sights and sounds and engulfed by the darkness of the forest night, Zoe had nothing to do but wait and cling to a sliver of hope.

Who Could Be So Cruel

Just as Zoe’s hope of rescue was fading, a passerby happened upon her by chance.

Shocked by the heartbreaking scene before them, they immediately sprang into action and contacted Kola Kariola, a local animal rescue group known for helping abandoned and stray animals.

Within hours, the rescue team arrived, ready to give Zoe what she had been hoping for all along—a glimmer of hope and a path to a better future.

When the rescue team first reached Zoe, she looked completely defeated and drained of hope.

She had nothing with her but the rope around her neck, with no food or water in sight to sustain her.

To make matters even more challenging, things didn’t go as smoothly as the team had hoped.

Zoe was still in shock and struggled to trust anyone. When the rescuers tried to free her, she barked and growled out of fear, doing her best to keep the strangers at bay.

However, with a bit of patience and the careful use of a catchpole, the volunteers eventually succeeded. Zoe was finally untied, ready to leave the place that had terrified her to the core.

They gently placed her in the car and headed toward the rescue center. Little did Zoe know that her dark past was now behind her, and a new life was about to begin.
