Sadly, not everyone feels the same deep love and affection for their furry companions. 

It’s heartbreaking to think that some people could mistreat or neglect such loyal, innocent animals. The idea of someone betraying these loving creatures is truly hard to comprehend.

These pups trust us unconditionally, offering their love freely. How could anyone turn their back on them?

Ladybird was one of those vulnerable and loving puppies who experienced the cruelty of abandonment firsthand. This little fur baby was heartlessly left behind, tied to a tree with no way to fend for herself.

Though she was cold and scared, Ladybird stayed by the tree, her soulful eyes watching the road as if waiting for someone to come and save her.

Her resilient little heart held onto the hope that someone kind would notice her and offer the compassion and love she deserved.

Spotting A Defenseless Puppy

Driving along a quiet Kentucky road, a passerby spotted a small brown-and-white puppy sitting by a tree. Something about the scene tugged at their heart.

As they slowed down, they realized the poor pup was tied to the tree. Feeling deeply moved, they immediately contacted the Lewis County Animal Shelter for help.

The shelter quickly sent rescuers to the scene. They gently freed the little dog and brought her to safety. 

"She was just so stoic sitting there by the tree, waiting for someone to notice her. So thankful that the shelter found her and took her in.

When Ladybird, as she was later named, first arrived at the shelter, she was understandably frightened and unsure of her surroundings. 

The staff realized that the busy shelter environment wouldn’t be suitable for such a tiny, delicate puppy.

They knew she needed the warmth of a loving home where she could feel safe and cared for. 

When Kim Desroches came across a photo of Ladybird on the shelter’s Facebook page, her heart broke for the sweet pup. 

At only six or seven weeks old, Ladybird was just a baby. The idea that someone could leave such a young and innocent creature tied to a tree was simply unimaginable.

The shelter staff and Desroches were determined to help Ladybird find a better place to heal and grow.

Desroches made it her mission to secure a foster home for Ladybird.

She knew the puppy would be vulnerable to illnesses at the shelter and wanted to ensure she had the best chance to thrive.

Ladybird Leaves The Shelter

It didn’t take long for Desroches to find a foster home for Ladybird, allowing the little pup to leave the shelter behind.

Her foster mom welcomed her with open arms, showering her with love and affection. Ladybird quickly began to relax, finding comfort in her new surroundings.

The warmth and care she received helped her leave behind her fears and become a playful, happy puppy once again.

After spending some time with her foster family, Ladybird was transferred to the Licking County Humane Society in Ohio, where her rescuers believed she would find her forever home.

On January 27, 2024, the rescue organization announced on their Facebook page that Ladybird was pending adoption. 

We’re keeping our fingers crossed for this brave little pup, hoping she has finally found her happily ever after.

Ladybird deserves nothing less than a lifetime of love and happiness. She will never have to feel abandoned or helpless again.
