When it comes to Halloween, you can expect a little magic and a lot of surprises, but nothing quite like this owl who seems to have taken the role of a “witch” flying on her “broomstick” to heart.
Owl Grabs A Stick Horse And Flies Through The Sky Looking Just Like A Witch
Halloween is a time of year when the unexpected can occur, bringing fun and mystery.
It’s a season full of tales about spooky transformations and magical creatures, like siblings pretending to morph into bats.
But this time, it wasn’t a costume or trick. One curious owl seemed to hilariously take on the role of a Halloween witch.
We all know the classic silhouette of a witch riding a broomstick – but what about an owl?
A fascinating image of a great horned owl quickly spread across the internet, as it looked oddly similar to a witch soaring through the sky on her broomstick.
Just in time for Halloween, this owl’s funny escapade captured the imaginations of viewers everywhere.
Eric Lind could hardly believe what he was seeing.
Eric Lind, who recorded the now-famous video, caught the owl’s one-of-a-kind flight in his parents’ neighborhood in Eureka, Illinois, on a crisp October day.
To everyone’s amazement, the owl had picked up a stick horse toy and was gliding through the air with it, looking strikingly like a witch cruising across the autumn sky.
The sight was just too funny not to share with everyone.
Recalling the amusing event to Newsweek, Lind shared:
"My mom received a call from one of the neighbors telling her to look outside in the backyard at our pine tree. They had spotted the owl as it flew into the tree initially, but couldn't quite tell what it was carrying at first."
When the Lind family investigated further, they realized that what the owl was carrying wasn’t just any stick—it was actually a stick horse toy.
The owl seemed to be oddly interested in the stick horse toy.
Some people guessed that the owl might have thought the horse's head looked like a small animal, maybe even something it would hunt in the wild.
Lind decided to post photos and a video of the owl’s unexpected adventure on social media, giving everyone a peek at the unusual moment.
In his post, he jokingly wrote,
"Current situation at my parents house…..the young neighborhood owl has stolen this stick horse and is flying around the neighborhood with it. Hilldale/Forest Park/Ridge lane neighbors…if your child is missing their stick horse, you'll have to talk to the owl!!"
The post quickly went viral, gaining popularity in no time.
It was Lind’s first post on Facebook since February, and it has already racked up over 101,000 shares.
The video alone has been viewed over 5 million times, and it inspired lots of funny comments, like:
"That's just some young wizards owl, bringing them their limited edition pony-head quidditch broom."
Another person added to the humor, commenting:
"All it needs is the Wicked Witch of the West music."
While most people found the whole scene hilarious, a few were concerned for the owl’s safety.
Addressing these worries, Lind responded,
"For those of you questioning if the owl is hurt or "entangled" in the stick horse….we have no reason to believe this is the case as we witnessed the owl moving the horse around and even changing it's grip on it at one point….this owl is part of a family of owls that have been in the neighborhood for about 6 months now, and this is one of the young owls…if someone sees that the owl is in danger or believes it is hurt, I'm sure the proper authorities would be contacted…"
The entire Lind family was both “shocked” and “amazed” by the owl’s odd behavior.
Eric Lind hoped that sharing these quirky photos would bring a smile to his friends and family.
Reflecting on the experience, he remarked,
"It has been great to read the comments by others who said it made them laugh or made their day."
So far, there haven’t been any updates about the owl and its funny fascination with the stick horse.
